The Conventional Process to apply for Voter ID Card

To find out your ERO, you need to visit http://electoralsearch.in/.
Here you will have to provide information like your name, age, address and gender. After entering all the data, click on ‘Search’. If you are a registered voter, your voter details will get displayed.
These details will include your ERO. So you can visit this ERO to obtain the forms 001A or 001C.
After filling the form properly, you need to submit the form and the required additional documents at your nearest ERO. Post submission, you will be given a receipt from the ERO. Please collect this receipt and keep it with you till you receive the Voter ID Card.
Apply for Voter ID card Online
You can make the online application for a Voter ID Card from the official website of the Election Commission of India (http://eci.nic.in).
In order to apply for a new voter ID card, you need to choose the option, ‘Form 6’. Upon clicking this option, you will be taken to the Form 6 page. (http://eci-citizenservices.nic.in/frmForm6New.aspx).
On this page, you need to enter your mobile number and you will receive a username and password via SMS. Now you will have to fill your details online. After you submit the details, you will be given an Application ID.
You need to note down this Application ID. After this you will have to fill the online application form.
After filling the form properly, click on ‘submit’ and then take a printout of the submitted form. You will also need to upload the scanned copies of proof of date of birth, proof of residential address and an identity proof.
After this, you will need to submit the printout of the Application Form along with the relevant documents to the concerned Electoral Officer of your area.
