How to do Correction of Aadhaar?
There are three methods to do any correction in your Aadhaar Card. These are:
- The conventional method – By visiting the nearest Aadhaar Card Centre in person.
- Making changes online.
- Making changes by post.
Method 1 – Visiting the nearest Aadhaar Card Centre in person
You can make any change to you Aadhaar Card by visiting the nearest Aadhaar Card Centre in person. In the Aadhaar Card Centre, you will be asked to produce the proper identification documents and post proper authentication, all the required changes to your Aadhaar Card will be done.
Method 2 – Making changes online
To do correction of Aadhaar online, you need to visit the online portal of UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India).

- Date of Birth
- Mobile Number
- E-mail ID
When you open the portal, you will be asked to enter your Aadhaar Number.
In case you do not use this mobile phone number anymore, you will have to get the mobile number updated either through post or by visiting the nearest Aadhaar Card Centre in person.
After you successfully enter the correct OTP, you will be taken to the next page where you will need to fill the Data Update Request form.
After uploading the required file, you simply need to click on ‘Confirm’ and this will complete the data update request process.
Method 3 – Making changes by Post
In case you are not very comfortable using computers or Internet and don’t want to visit the Aadhaar card center either, you can choose to make changes via post. To make changes by post, first of all fill the Aadhaar Card Correction Form properly. This form can be downloaded from the UIDAI portal.
Along with the completed form, you need to attach the self-signed supporting documents according to the changes which you need to be done to you Aadhaar Card. These documents will be the copies of the identity or the address proofs according to whether you are trying to update your name, DOB, gender or the address. These documents need to be self signed by the user himself and notarization is not required.
